Piramid found!

Seventeen lost pyramids are among the buildings identified in a new satellite survey of Egypt.

More than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also revealed by looking at infra-red images which show up underground buildings.

An initial excavation has already confirmed some of the findings including of two suspected pyramids.

"We were very strongly doing this research for over a year. I could see the data as it was rising , but for me the "A-Ha" moment was when I could step back and look at everything that we'd found and I couldn't believe we could locate so many sites all over Egypt."

The team analyzed images from satellites orbiting 700km above the earth, equipped with cameras so powerful they can pin-point objects less than 1m in diameter on the earth's surface.

Infra-red imaging was used to highlight different materials under the surface.

মহাকাশে ওষুধের কার্যকারিতা

মহাকাশে ওষুধের কার্যকারিতা দ্রুত নষ্ট হয়ে যায়। বিজ্ঞানীদের সমীক্ষায় এ তথ্য উঠে এসেছে। তারা বলেছেন যেসব নভোচারী দীর্ঘ অভিযানে মহাকাশে যাবেন তারা প্যারাসিটামল বা এন্টি বায়োটিকস হয়তো ব্যবহার করতে পারবেন না। মহাকাশযানের অব্যাহত তেজস্ক্রিয়তার কারণে এভাবে ওষুধের কার্যকারিতা নষ্ট হয়ে যায় বলে মনে করা হচ্ছে।

বিজ্ঞানীরা বলেছেন, মহাকাশের জন্য নতুন ওষুধের প্রয়োজন রয়েছে এবং দীর্ঘ মেয়াদি অভিযানের জন্য এ ওষুধ দরকার । পৃথিবীর মাটিতে যে সব ওষুধ ব্যবহার হয় তা কয়েক বছর ব্যবহার উপযোগী থাকে। সাধারণভাবে এ সব ওষুধকে সূর্যালোক থেকে দূরে এবং শীতল ও শুকনো পরিবেশে রাখতে হয়। মহাকাশের পরিবেশ পৃথিবী থেকে একবারেই ভিন্ন। মহাকাশে তেজস্ক্রিয়তার মাত্রা বেশি, নভোযান বা মহাকাশ স্টেশনে অবিরাম কম্পন ঘটছে এবং সেখানে মধ্যাকর্ষণ শক্তি প্রায় নেই এ ছাড়া, কার্বন ডাই-অক্সাইডের পরিমাণ বেশি এবং তাপমাত্রা ও আর্দ্রতারও পার্থক্য রয়েছে। এ সব কারণে ওষুধের ওপর কোনো প্রভাব পড়ে কিনা তা খতিয়ে দেখছেন বিজ্ঞানীরা।

নতুন সৌরজগত

কেপলার মহাকাশ টেলিস্কোপ নতুন সৌরজগত সনাক্ত করেছে। এ সৌর জগতে একটি সূর্যকে ঘিরে খুব কাছাকাছি অক্ষপথে চলা ৫টি গ্রহ দেখা গেছে। এ গ্রহগুলো আমাদের সৌরজগতের গ্রহগুলোর চেয়ে বড়। মার্কিন গবেষণা সংস্থা নাসার বরাত দিয়ে "নেচার" জানিয়েছে, এ নতুন সৌরজগতের নাম দেয়া হয়েছে "কেপলার-১১"।

কেপলার মহাকাশ টেলিস্কোপ ২০০৯ সালে বসানো হয়। এ পর্যন্ত এ টেলিস্কোপ এক লাখ ৫০ হাজার নক্ষত্রের আলো পরিমাপ করেছে। মহাকাশ বিজ্ঞানীরা আশা করছেন তারা পৃথিবীর গঠন ও আকারের অনুরূপ গ্রহের সন্ধান পাবেন, যে গ্রহে জীবন ধারণ বা মানুষ বসবাসের উপযোগী নাতিশীতোষ্ণ পানি থাকবে। অন্য কোনো তারকা কোনো গ্রহ প্রদক্ষিণ করছে কিনা,কেপলার পরোক্ষ পদ্ধতিতে এসব গতিবিধি লক্ষ্য করে। গ্রহ যখন কোনো নক্ষত্র বা সূর্য প্রদক্ষিণ করে তখন তার আলো কমে যায়। আর এই আলোর পরিমাপ দিয়েই বিজ্ঞানীরা ওই গ্রহের আয়তন ও গতি নির্ধারণ করেন।

Abnormal death of Wrestlers!!

Over one-fourth of the performers who took part in 1991's Wrestlemania VII have died, a wrestling website noted this.

The Wrestling Observer newsletter discovered that 14 of the 51 performers at the event have died in the past 20 years, with many of the deaths occurred.

The list of wrestlers who have died since 1991 include some of the biggest stars in the sport like Savage, Andre the Giant, Miss Elizabeth and The British Bulldog. Causes of death include suicides, murder and heart attacks, some the result of years of anabolic steroid use. Savage died last week after suffering an apparent heart attack behind the wheel of his truck. His ex-wife, Miss Elizabeth, passed away after overdosing on a variety of drugs in 2003.

মোবাইল ফোনে প্রতারণা!!

মোবাইল ফোনের মাধ্যমে  এসএমএস  দিয়ে পাঁচ হাজার ডলার লাভের প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হচ্ছে। গতকাল বিভিন্ন গ্রাহকের মোবাইলে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের উদ্বৃতি দিয়ে এ এসএমএস আসে। বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক এ ধরনের প্রতারণা থেকে সবাইকে সতর্ক থাকতে আহ্বান করেছেন।

এক গ্রাহক গতকাল হঠাৎ করে দেখেন তার মোবাইল ফোনে  একটি নম্বর থেকে এসএমএস এসেছে। ওই এসএমএসে লেখা রয়েছে দ্রুত কল করুন এবং ৫ হাজার ডলার জিতে নিন। তিনি কল করলে তার ফোনের ব্যালান্স থেকে ২০০ টাকা চলে যায়। একই ধরণের এসএমএস পেয়েছেন আরেক গ্রাহক ।তার মোবাইলে কোনো নম্বর না উঠে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক নামে পরপর তিনটি এসএমএস আসে। সবগুলোতেই একটি নম্বরে কল করতে বলা হয় এবং ৫ হাজার ডলার দেওয়ার প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হয়। এ রকম অনেক গ্রাহকের মোবাইলে এসএমএস এসেছে। দেশের কয়েকটি মোবাইল ফোন কোম্পানির সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হলে তারা এ বিষয়ে কিছু জানে না বলে জানান।

এদিকে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক এ ধরনের প্রতারণা থেকে সবাইকে সতর্ক থাকতে আহ্বান জানিয়েছে। ব্যাংক থেকে গতকাল এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে জানানো হয়, বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের নামে অনেক গ্রাহকের মোবাইলে ডলার লাভের প্রস্তাব দিয়ে বিভিন্ন এসএমএস পাঠানো হচ্ছে। যা পুরোপুরি ভুয়া ও প্রতারণামূলক। বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক থেকে গ্রাহকের কাছে কোন এসএমএস পাঠানো হচ্ছে না। তাই এধরনের প্রতারণামূলক এসএমএস থেকে বিভ্রান্ত না হওয়া বা ওই নম্বরে ফোন না দেওয়ার জন্য অনুরোধ করা হচ্ছে।
